The process for requesting a permanent medical excuse from jury service is as follows: (1) An applicant must submit to the jury commissioner a written request for permanent medical excuse with a supporting letter, memo, or note from a treating health care provider.

Jurors are asked to dress appropriately for a courtroom. Business or casual dress is acceptable-jeans and t-shirts are okay. You can sign up for text or email notifications or request an excusal or deferral.The purpose of this questioning is to find out if that person can be fair and impartial. One of the attorneys may "challenge a juror for cause. I submitted a request to be excused due to undue hardship based on this rule: "The prospective juror must travel an excessive distance. When a demand for jury trial is included in a pleading, the demand must be set forth at the end of the pleading. Picking a jury in a capital case was far more onerous than in a typical homicide case.
