A jury trial may be requested by the plaintiff at the time of filing the complaint. A defendant may request a jury trial within ten days after the time for filing a notice of intention to defend. Md. Rule 3-325(a).

Can I be excused from jury service? Under certain very limited circumstances, you can be excused from jury service. You must show that excusal is required because of extreme inconvenience, public necessity, or undue hardship. Being excused is intended to be used only for the most serious of situations.

In the demand a party may specify the issues which the party wishes so tried; otherwise the party shall be deemed to have demanded trial by jury for all the issues so triable.

When trial by jury has been elected by any party, the action, including all claims whether asserted by way of counterclaim, cross-claim or third-party claim, as to all parties, and as to all issues triable of right by a jury, shall be designated upon the docket as a jury trial.

Rule 4-214 - Defense Counsel (a) Appearance. Counsel retained or appointed to represent a defendant shall enter an appearance within five days after accepting employment, after appointment, or after the filing of the charging document in court, whichever occurs later.

What is the dress code for jury duty? Out of respect for the Court; please, do not wear jeans, t-shirts, shorts, gym clothes, tank tops or half shirts. If you have a job where uniforms are required, please do not wear the uniform for jury duty.
