The purposes of this Act are-- (1) to provide appropriate remedies for intentional discrimination and unlawful harassment in the workplace; Title VII prohibits employment discrimination based on race, color, religion, sex and national origin.21, 1991, following two years of debate, and prohibited discrimination for job applicants and workers.
