A normal, healthy pregnancy is not generally considered a disability. A pregnant employee may, however, become temporarily disabled during this period.The Equal Employment Opportunity Commission is issuing this final rule and interpretive guidance to implement the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act. The PDA prohibits employers from discriminating against employees on the basis of pregnancy, childbirth, or related medical conditions. Pregnancy discrimination is against the law.
