Know about Ohio pregnancy discrimination. Discover how pregnancy, childbirth, and related medical conditions are safeguarded in the workplace with state law.Pregnancy discrimination is against the law. The EEOC enforces three federal laws that protect job applicants and employees who are pregnant. You have an absolute right to complain and report pregnancy discrimination to your employer through a hotline, HR, or to a higher level boss in management. These laws collectively ensure that pregnant employees cannot be discriminated against or fired simply for being pregnant. As of June 27, 2023, most Ohio employers are required to provide pregnancy accommodations under the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA). Pregnant employees are treated differently. Employers can't discriminate against you because of your sex, including because you are pregnant. The PWFA does not replace any of the laws that are in place.
