Discrimination is the unfair or prejudicial treatment of people and groups based on characteristics such as race, gender, age, or sexual orientation. The ability to distinguish between stimuli or objects that differ quantitatively or qualitatively from one another.When someone acts on prejudiced attitudes toward a group of people this is known as discrimination. Discrimination means, at a very basic level, the act of separating out singular things or groups of things. It can be both an adjective and a verb. Discrimination is the unfair treatment or exclusion of individuals based on these group characteristics, rather than their personal merits or abilities. Prejudice is a common human condition. Prejudice just means prejudgment. The ordinance prohibits discrimination in access to public places because of: Race; Sex; Color; Religion; National Origin. Prejudice and discrimination against others can be based on gender, race, ethnicity, social class, sexual orientation, or a variety of other social identities.
