The purposes of this Act are-- (1) to provide appropriate remedies for intentional discrimination and unlawful harassment in the workplace; Civil Rights Act of 1991.TITLE I - FEDERAL CIVIL RIGHTS REMEDIES. Allows compensatory and punitive damages for intentional employment discrimination on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, or disability. A) Discriminatory practices prohibited; employees or applicants for employment subject to coverage. The Civil Rights Act of 1991 allows for Title VII discrimination claims to go before a jury. The purposes of this Act are- (1) to provide appropriate remedies for intentional discriminationand unlawful harassment in the workplace; Title VII of the Civil Rights Act became law 60 years ago, on July 2, 1964. RCW Chapter 49.60 is a State law that protects all people in Washington from unfair and discriminatory practices in employment. The Civil Rights Act of 1964 also contains Title VII, which deals more comprehensively than Title VI with employment.
