This act was passed to assert the authority of the British government to tax its subjects in North America after it repealed the much-hated Stamp Act. The Declaratory Act of 1766 declared that the British Parliament had the absolute right to tax colonies in North America.On March 18, 1766, Parliament repealed the Stamp Act and passed the Declaratory Act. This act was basically saying, "We will pass any legislation we see fit on the colonies in America and do whatever it takes to enforce them. DECLARATORY ACT to affirm its authority to "make laws . . . The Declaratory Act, along with other Acts of Parliament, unified the 13 colonies in their anger against Britain and led to the start of the Revolutionary War. On September 23, 2022, Governor Newsom signed CA IDs for All (AB 1766, Stone) into law. On March 18, 1766, George III approved Parliament's repeal of the Stamp Act and its passage of the Declaratory Act. In 1766, the English Parliament repealed the Stamp Act and at the same time signed the Declaratory Act. Is appropriated in the annual Budget Act to carry out this section.
