L. 95–620, title VII, § 724, Nov.As a general rule, a court will not issue a preliminary injunction without the plaintiff posting a bond. The bond, however, unfortunately is an afterthought. But a literal reading of the provision could also rule out efforts to obtain any injunctive relief that applies to multiple named plaintiffs. In such a situation, the district court must determine what the bond would have been had it been properly set at the time injunctive relief. Injunctive relief is a legal remedy in the form of a court order that compels an individual or entity to do or refrain from specific actions. The stay will be effective "when the court approves the bond. No. 12 ("Am. Compl."). Such orders, when issued before a judgement, are known as preliminary injunctions that can be punished as contempt if not obeyed.
