The Georgia Entertainment Industry Investment Act provides a film tax credit for feature film, series, pilots, movies for television, televised commercial advertisements, and music video productions, and also for qualified interactive entertainment projects.

A Georgia-based post-production company that has a Georgia payroll of at least $250,000 and spends at least $500,000 during a taxable year will qualify for a 20% tax credit, capped at $10,000,000 per year. These credits have a three year carry-forward. This policy had a sunset date of December 31, 2022.

A taxpayer seeking preapproval for Post Production Film Tax Credit must file electronically through Georgia Tax Center (GTC). A valid certification must be applied for via Form IT-PC before you can apply for this credit. A corporate, fiduciary, partnership/LLC or individual income tax account is required.

Louisiana Louisiana's Motion Picture Production Incentive Program offers as much as a 40% tax credit for film projects with eligible in-state expenditures. This includes both resident and non-resident labor. That 40% credit breaks down into several categories of movie tax breaks.

First passed in 2005, Georgia's film tax credit provides an income tax credit to production companies that spend at least $500,000 on qualified productions. The base credit rate was raised to 20% in 2008, with an additional 10% for a qualified promotion of the state (e.g., Georgia logo).
