Daniella Levine Cava was elected Miami-Dade County's first-ever woman mayor in November 2020. As mayor, she oversees a metropolitan government of more than 31,000 employees, serves nearly 3 million residents, and manages an annual budget of approximately $12 billion.

Previously, she was a Miami-Dade County Commissioner from 2014 until her election as mayor in 2020. She handily won re-election in 2024. She is the first woman and the first person of Jewish descent to serve as mayor of Miami-Dade County.
