Bexar County is led by a County Judge and four Commissioners who are elected to four-year terms. They represent the Commissioners Court, which is the governing body of the County. Together, they have financial responsibility for the County, including adopting the budget and setting the property tax rate.
Government roles The judge can issue writs of injunction, mandamus, attachment, garnishment, sequestration, and habeas corpus in cases where the offense charged is within the jurisdiction of the court. The judge also can punish for contempt, and has all other powers and duties of the county judge.
