How can I become a peace officer in Nevada? Meet the minimum standards of appointment listed under NAC 289.110. Graduation from a law enforcement academy which will include passing a physical fitness test and state certification exam. A basic certificate will be issued after successful graduation from an academy.

Arrests/Convictions Applicants with a convicted disposition for the following types of crimes will be disqualified indefinitely. Conviction of any crime currently considered a felony in the State of Nevada. Convictions for two (2) Driving Under the Influence (DUI) or Driving While Intoxicated (DWI) incidents.

Individuals may request a fingerprint-based Nevada criminal background check themselves by submitting a request to the Nevada Criminal History Repository. However, the report only includes Nevada records. It doesn't include criminal records from other states or a federal criminal record check from the FBI.
