Act 57 of 2020 required the Commission to develop a database to hold separation records of all "law enforcement officers" in the Commonwealth (defined as "peace officers" in Title 18 Pa. C.S.A. § 501).
The Criminal Justice Training Center offers full-time and part-time Act 120programs. Full-time academies meet from a.m. to p.m. Monday through Friday and usually take about 22 weeks to complete. Part-time programs are designed for people who work or whose schedules don't enable them to be in classes all day.
Most misdemeanors in Pennsylvania have a two-year statute of limitations. This means that prosecutors must file charges within two years of the date the crime was committed.
The range is usually from one year for many misdemeanors, three years for many felonies, to no time limit at all for crimes punishable by death or life in prison. If there is no statute of limitations, the prosecutor may bring charges against someone at any time.
Criminal statute of limitations is capped at the age of adulthood plus 32 years, ie age 50 for most. Criminal statute of limitations for adults is capped at 12 years after the offense was committed. Civil statute of limitations for adults is capped at 2 years after the offense was committed.

The Pennsylvania Department of Human Services utilizes IDEMIA to process fingerprint-based FBI criminal background checks. The fingerprint based background check is a multiple step process.

In order to comply with Pennsylvania legislation (ACT 153), your position requires that you secure a new Act 34 Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History (PATCH) every 60 months.
