Admission to San José State is competitive in all majors because SJSU continues to have more qualified applicants than available new student spaces. This situation is called "impaction" and it means that meeting the minimum California State University (CSU) requirements does not guarantee admission to SJSU.
Admissions Rate: 80.2% This tells you how competitive the school is and how serious their requirements are. The acceptance rate at San Jose State is 80.2%. For every 100 applicants, 80 are admitted.
The admission decision is based on objective data: each applicant's academic qualifications from official transcripts and official test scores. If you were denied admission to SJSU, and have a serious and compelling reason for reconsideration, please see instructions below for the denial appeal process.
