Child Daycare Center – You may accept more than six children aged six weeks to 12 years for more than three hours per day. The care must not be in a residence. Small Daycare Center – You may accept three to six children aged six weeks to 12 years for more than three hours per day. The care must not be in a residence.

As a general rule, any child day care program planning to serve three or more children, for more than three hours a day on a regular basis, must obtain a license or registration.

Group family day care programs may have up to 12 children, ages 6 weeks to 12 years old, plus four additional school-age children. These programs must have a primary on-site caregiver and at least one assistant. There must be one caregiver for every two children who are younger than 2 years old.
