You can always write a formal letter to your local church board stating your request and the reasons why. You are allowed to resign from a church whenever you wish to do so, no matter what your covenant, church constitution or designated church leader says."Transferring your letter" is more of a perfunctory act between churches who are merely shuffling members as though they are numbers on a score board. I have found some churches deny the withdrawal of membership while under church discipline. The scriptures explain exactly how the sacrament is to be administered. Contact your pastor or elder, though they may request you to withdraw in writing. A pastor who refuses to accept an unbiblical membership resignation is deemed to be so strange and out of place that he must be running a cult or something. Join our Members meeting on July 28th at pm as we discuss various family matters and review our current financial situation. Hope United Methodist Church of Sacramento was live. We will get to pray together at the end for our body and various ministries at our church.
