The best thing to do is to explain the reasons for leaving so that the church is not hurt or mystified as to why you are leaving. If people are gracious enough to let me know they are leaving, I write them a letter and thank them for their attendance and past service.Entering into, engaging with, and departing from Christ's local body is a significant part of following Jesus. I did leave, and am now in a new place much better for me. Thank you, thank you, for all you've done, for your sweet heart for the Lord and for your neighbors. It is with deep sadness that I write to you to resign from the Council of Delegates of the Christian Reformed Church. Try to leave graciously. Be joyful in the LORD, all you lands; serve the LORD with gladness and come before his presence with a song. Make sure you are leaving for the right reasons. Search your heart and talk with your family and close friends.
