Filing a Complaint with the Public Body The complaint must be filed within 30 days of the date of the violation, or the date the complainant could reasonably have known of the violation. A public meeting refers to a meeting that is open to the public. A public hearing is open to the public but is regarding a specific proposal/project.

With respect to meeting notices, Special Commissions must file a meeting notice with the clerk of either the House or Senate.
