Probationary period. (a) The first three consecutive years of a teacher's first teaching experience in Minnesota in a single district are deemed to be a probationary period of employment, and, the probationary period in each district in which the teacher is thereafter employed shall be one year.
After determining that the student is eligible for special education, the school and IEP team have 30 days to develop the IEP. This is often done at the same meeting, which may be reconvened over more than one meeting date. (See Cal Ed Code Section 56043f2.)
Recommended: Complete the student's initial IEP in its entirety within 60 days unless one of the exceptions above applies. Notice of procedural safeguards.
The Open Meeting Law (Minnesota Statutes Chapter 13D) requires public bodies to meet in open session unless otherwise permitted and provide meeting notices to the public. This law applies to both state-level public bodies and local public bodies, such as county boards, city councils, and school boards.
The posted notice must include the date, time, and place of the special meeting. The notice must also include the purpose of the meeting, so that what can be discussed or decided at the meeting is limited to that purpose.
The school must make sure that this first IEP meeting is held within 30 calendar days after a child has been found eligible for special education and related services. Annual IEP: An IEP is written every year for a child receiving special education.
Finalized Evaluation Reports should be sent out within 15 SCHOOL days of the meeting. IEP Timelines: Once you determine that student is eligible, you should have an IEP written within 10 SCHOOL days of the meeting (you have 30 calendar days to do this by law, but MVED expects quicker turn around than that.)
Initial IEP meeting (required as a result of an assessment, and after parent consent): Within 60 calendar days from date that the signed Assessment Plan is received by school, all assessments and reports must be completed and the IEP meeting held.
Create the Meeting Notice Open a text editor or word processor and create a new document. Create a professional header with the meeting title, date, and time. Include a brief description of the purpose of the meeting. List all the participants and their roles. Include the agenda, date, time, and location.
