The five-member Board of Supervisors is the governing body of the County of Los Angeles. Created by the state Legislature in 1852, the Board has executive, legislative and quasi-judicial roles. Members are elected by voters in their respective districts and are limited to three four-year terms.
Contra Costa is governed by a five-member Board of Supervisors elected to represent residents of our County. Meetings are held on Tuesdays at a.m., although they are not held on every Tuesday.
Shanelle Scales-Preston was elected to the Pittsburg City Council in 2018 and served as Mayor in 2023. With a focus on supporting youth programs and improving city services, Shanelle has worked to contribute to a stronger and more vibrant community.
Supervisor Candace Andersen serves as the Chair of the Contra Costa County Board of Supervisors. Candace was first elected to the Board of Supervisors in June 2012. In 2016, 2020, and most recently in March of 2024 she ran unopposed and was re-elected to four-year terms.
