National Junior Honor Society membership is invitation-only and a specific honor. But Everyday Scholarship, Service, Leadership, Character, and Citizenship are shared values of schools, communities, and families. Everyday Scholarship is a commitment to learning and growing on an educational path.

Unveiled over a century ago, the National Honor Society enshrines four pillars at its heart: Scholarship, Service, Leadership, and Character.

This letter should be short (no more than 50-60 words). It should address how you feel this student exemplifies the qualities of leadership, citizenship, and/or character and how he/she would represent Whitesboro Middle School in a positive way.

By demonstrating such qualities as respect, responsibility, trustworthiness, fairness, caring, and citizenship, we may hope to prove by example that we value character.

Citizenship The student who demonstrates citizenship understands the importance of civic engagement, has a high regard for freedom and justice, respects the U.S. form of government, and respects the law for all citizens at the local, state, and federal levels.
