The Fairfax County Times has learned that Fairfax County School Board Chair Karl Frisch failed to convince all 12 school board members to endorse a letter saying they “strongly support” Superintendent Michelle Reid and her handling of a recruiting scandal with the Hayfield Secondary School football team.
Nine of the board members are elected from the single-member districts of Braddock, Dranesville, Franconia, Hunter Mill, Mason, Mount Vernon, Providence, Springfield, and Sully, while the chairman is elected at-large.
Beginning next year, the chairman's salary will be $138,283 and board members will receive $123,283. The salary adjustment is calculated based on the market rate adjustments and average increases county employees received since the board last adjusted its salary.
