The Virginia Guaranteed Assistance Program (VGAP) grant is a state-funded program based on financial need for in-state undergraduate students.

How much is awarded annually? In 2024-25, Virginia residents undergraduate students will receive a non-need based tuition grant of $5,125. In 2025-26, the award is expected to be $5,250. Graduate students enrolled in health professions programs receive $5,000.

The Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant (VTAG), funded by the Commonwealth of Virginia, provides grant assistance to degree-seeking undergraduate students who are Virginia residents and who enroll full-time during the regular academic year. Full-time status requires at least 3.5 units per term for undergraduate students.

To be eligible for aid, students must have a high school diploma or its equivalent, or have a certificate indicating they have completed a home-study program recognized by their home state. Students must be enrolled in an approved degree-seeking program to be eligible for any financial aid from the University.
