Plead to or pay a Traffic Violations Bureau (TVB) traffic ticket, or schedule a hearing online. The only way to challenge the charges or get the charges reduced is to plead "not guilty" (see next Section). To Plead Guilty - Read the instructions and check the "guilty" box on the back of the ticket. Pleading guilty means that you are accepting all of the fines, fees, penalties, and other consequences of the ticket. If you decide to contest the speeding ticket, you have the right to request a trial. A plea of guilty says that you do not want to face the consequences of the ticket. In some instances, you may have the option to negotiate a plea bargain with the prosecutor or the court. NEVER plead guilty or pay the fine for a moving violation without discussing it with an experienced attorney first. New York law does not give you the option to choose no contest. You can simply choose if you are pleading guilty or not guilty.
