Thai authorities have announced that a new electronic travel authorization (ETA) will soon be mandatory for all individuals entering Thailand by air, land, or sea. The ETA is expected to take effect between December 2024 and the first quarter of 2025, though official guidelines have yet to be released.

Effective 2024, Thailand has implemented new arrival procedures that include a mandatory form known as the Thailand Arrival Card. While this requirement has been lifted for air travelers, it remains in place for individuals entering the country via land or sea.

Starting in December 2024, the Electronic Travel Authorization (ETA) system will be introduced and all foreigners looking to travel to Thailand under the visa exemption scheme will be required to enroll in it from June 2025 onwards.

Thailand's new visa measures, starting from 15 July 2024 Visa exemption (60 days) for 93 countries/territories. Visa on Arrival (VOA) for 31 countries/territories. Destination Thailand Visa (DTV) Non-ED PLUS visa for students.

Retirement Visa Qualifications Applicant must be 50 years of age or over. Must meet any of the financial requirements: Security deposit of THB 800,000 in a Thai bank account for 2 months prior to the visa application. Monthly Income of 65,000 THB regularly deposited in a Thai bank account.

As an expatriate retiring in Thailand, your US pension and Social Security are generally not subject to Thai taxes due to the tax treaty between the US and Thailand.
