When you win a Judgment in City Court, the Court sends a Notice of Judgment to the parties. When the debtor pays the judgment, the creditor must: File a Satisfaction of Judgment form with the Clerk within 20 days.First, contact the judgment debtor and request payment. I waited a few weeks after receiving the judgment in case the debtor would pay voluntarily (they didn't). Then I sent them a letter asking for payment. But generally, a default judgment can be set aside when a party makes a motion to do so and the judge agrees. No sooner than 30 days after the court enters a judgment, you may ask that the debtor appear in court and answer your questions. The debtor will be under oath.
