The creditor with a judgment must give you notice of your right to protect your property. A judgment creditor may file an execution demand after 30 days from the entry of the judgment.Judgments are valid for ten (10) years. Judgment certain of your property (in other words, to keep it from being taken away from you). Once the trial tribunal enters an order that decides all substantive claims in the litigation, the right to appeal the judgment begins to run. The North Carolina Constitution requires that individual (not corporate) debtors be served with a Notice of Right to Claim Exempt Property.
