The objective of this agreement is to improve animal welfare in the trapping of wildlife, meet the EU regulations on humane trapping of wild species. The Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards (AIHTS) between the EU, Canada, Russia and the US and concluded successfully in 1998.Internationally, Canada has signed The Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards (AIHTS) in 1997 along with the European Union and Russia. All cats must be in humane cat traps, one cat per trap. Cats in carriers, or multiple cats in a trap, will not be accepted. The very thought that many of our animal kin experience serious lifelong psychological harm should they survive being trapped is foreign to many people. The Agreement on International Humane Trapping Standards (AIHTS) is an attempt to establish and enforce an international standard on humaneness for traps. Corps permits are also necessary for any work, including construction and dredging, in the Nation's navigable waters. VEG will accept wildlife patients between the hours of 3 p.m. (included in the Standard IT Agreement.
