Work permits indicate the duties and location where the work will be done as well as the number of hours a minor may work. In most cases it is a two-step process, the minor along with the parent/guardian and employer fill out the B1-1 form and submit to the school local to the minor's address.

NOTE: Parent/guardians may employ their minor children under 16 in any occupation except mining or manufacturing, or in occupations declared hazardous in federal regulation for minors under 18 (See chart for 16- and 17-year-olds.)

You can work on a farm if your parents own or operate it. You can perform on tv, radio, movies or theater productions with a permit. You can work for a parent's business. Deliver newspapers. You can also start your own business, the sky is the limit.

Minors 14 and 15 years of age‍ When school is in session, they may work a maximum of 3 hours a day on school days, a maximum of 8 hours a day on non-school days, a maximum of 18 hours a week during school weeks. They may work between the hours of 7 a.m. and 7 p.m. They may not work during school hours.

Federal Laws: Under the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA), 14- and 15-year-olds can work in certain jobs but are limited in the number of hours they can work: - During school weeks: Up to 3 hours on a school day and 18 hours in a school week. - During non-school weeks: Up to 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week.

If you have not already started the EAD application process, you can begin here by creating a USCIS account online and filing Form-I-765. USCIS will mail your work permit to the address you provided in your application if your application is approved.

Minors aged 15 days to 18 years employed in the entertainment industry must have a permit to work, and employers must have a permit to employ. Under state law, work hours that apply to 14- and required.15-year-olds generally also apply when they are employed in agriculture. As long as you're at least 16 years old, this is legal. Teenagers under 14 years have a restriction on the kind of jobs they can do. They are legally allowed to perform odd home jobs and delivering newspapers. 14-15 year olds may work up to 8 hours per day, 40 hours per week, unless attending summer school. From June 1 - Labor Day may work between 7am and 9pm. Minors ages 14 and 15 must work within prescribed scheduling restrictions, as outlined below. Federal child labor laws set the minimum age to work at 14, with some exceptions, and California's minimum age to work also is 14 in most cases.
