There is no limitation in hours per day or week. When school is NOT in session minors 16 & 17 have no limitation as to the starting and ending time and no limitation in hours per day or week.

Ages 16 & 17 Older teens are allowed to work for up to 48 hours over the course of the week. 16 and 17-year-olds are allowed to work between 5 a.m. and 10 p.m. most days and as late as a.m. on nights before nonschool days.

Ohio teens between the ages of 14-17 are required to have a Minor Work Permit to hold a job during the school year. During the summer, only those under the age of 16 need a work permit.

Ohio Meal Break Laws In the Buckeye state, until employees reach the age of 18, minor employees must be given at least a 30-minute uninterrupted break for every 5 hours of continuous work. Adult employees are not entitled to any breaks under federal or state law.

They may not work more than 8 hours per day and 40 hours per week. Workers ages 16 to 17 have no restrictions on working hours when school is not in session. However, all minors must have at least one 30-minute break every five hours.

Minimum Age Standards For Employment 16 - Basic minimum age for employment. Sixteen- and 17-year-olds may be employed for unlimited hours in any occupation other than those declared hazardous by the Secretary of Labor.

In the state of Ohio, any minor from the age of 14-17 can work, ing to the Ohio Revised Code Chapter 4109. For minors that fall within that age group to start working, they have to have a working permit unless otherwise specified within Chapter 4109.

There is no days per week restriction. 16 and 17-year-old minors enrolled in school may not work for more than nine hours in any one day, 40 hours in a school week, 48 hours in a non-school week, and six days in any one week.

Ohio is an at-will employment state, which means that in the absence of a written employment agreement or a collective bargaining agreement providing otherwise, either the employer or the employee may terminate employment for any reason that is not contrary to law.

Are students required to obtain a Work Permit for summer employment? Student applicants who are age 14 or 15 are required to obtain a work permit in all instances. Work permits are not required of 16 or 17 year old students unless requested by the employer during the summer vacation.
