All merit employees are encouraged to take annual leave for vacation purposes of two consecutive weeks each year. Beginning in year 11, 12-month employees can accumulate up to a maximum of 40 days of annual leave.An employee shall not accrue or use more than 40 hours of paid sick leave in a year, unless the employer selects a higher limit. State employees are allowed up to 30 days of paid leave in any calendar year, in addition to any other paid leave, to serve as bone marrow or organ donors. Va. Virginia doesn't mandate employers to provide employees unpaid or paid holiday leave. Please note that most Federal employees work on a Monday through Friday schedule. 6.3 In addition to vacation days, the Employee shall have five paid holidays. Time off from work may be authorized for various reasons. Holiday pay is not federally mandated.
