California is the only state with doubletime rules. As such, you are entitled to overtime if you work more than 8 hours in a day, even if you do not work more than 40 hours in the week.This includes requirements for minimum wage, overtime pay, meal and rest breaks, and other labor standards. Employees in Florida have the right to be appropriately compensated for all work they have carried out. State laws do not cover overtime. Current U.S. federal laws define employer regulations for requiring employees working overtime. The most fundamental rule of Florida overtime law is that non-exempt employees who work over 40 hours in a single workweek are entitled to overtime pay. ‍. The Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) requires most employers to give nonexempt employees overtime pay when they work extra hours. According to this law, non-exempt employees are entitled to overtime pay when they work more than 40 hours in a workweek. Florida doesn't have its own overtime wage law.
