The Employment Relations Act 1999 (c. 26) is an act of Parliament of the United Kingdom. It made significant amendments in UK labour law to the Trade Union and Labour Relations (Consolidation) Act 1992. An Act to amend the law relating to employment, to trade unions and to employment agencies and businesses.

There are 3 main sources of Employment Law in England & Wales; the Common Law, Statute and European Law (European Directive and decisions of the European Court of Justice).

New regulations under this act were published in January 2024, consolidating penalties for breaches of employment law. Employers failing to provide terms of employment or mismanaging tips and gratuities may face substantial financial penalties. Either compliance notices or fixed payment notices can be issued - or both.
