Child Labor Laws in North Carolina They can work up to 18 hours per week when school is in session and up to 40 hours per week when school is not in session. They are allowed to work only between 7 a.m. and 7 p.m., extended to 9 p.m. from June 1 through Labor Day when school is not in session.
