There are no requirements for breaks, meal or rest periods for employees 18 years of age or older. Under the PMLA, eligible employees accrue one hour of paid sick leave for every 35 hours worked, up to a maximum of 40 hours per benefit year.In the State of Michigan, contrary to popular belief, there are no laws that mandate employers to provide their employees with paid or unpaid vacation benefits. Effective February 21, 2025, most employers in Michigan are required to provide employees with at least one hour of paid sick time for every 30 hours worked. Michigan law requires 0 vacation days. Private employers in Michigan are not required to offer paid or unpaid vacation benefits to their employees. Starting on February 21, 2025, every Michigan employer, regardless of size, must provide their employees with up to 72 hours of sick leave annually. When the leave is not foreseeable, the employee must provide notice as soon as practicable in the particular circumstances. Leave begins to accrue upon the later of March 2019 or commencement of an employee's employment. An employee may use leave as it accrues.
