Almost all minors under the age of 18 are subject to California's child labor protections. The difference is the maximum work hours for these minors.Thus, 9 to16 year-olds who attend regular school may only work up to 3 hours on a schoolday. 16 and 17 year olds that are enrolled in school may not work more than 6 consecutive days or 30 hours per week during the school calendar week. 16-year-old children cannot work more than 10 hours consecutive or more than 10 hours in a 24 hours period. Under the FLSA, 16 and 17yearolds may be employed for unlimited hours in any nonagricultural, nonhazardous position. 16 and 17yearolds may work up to 8 hours a day, up to 48 hours a week, and between a.m. 16-17 age bracket- They can work for 4 hours in a day and 48 hours in a week during school days.
