Employers must provide a second meal break of no fewer than 30 minutes for all workdays on which an employee works more than 10 hours. If you work over 5 hours in a day, you are entitled to a meal break of at least 30 minutes that must start before the end of the fifth hour of your shift. Rest Breaks: Employees are entitled to a 10-minute paid rest break for every four hours worked or major fraction thereof. Under California law, non-exempt employees are entitled to one unpaid 30-minute meal break, and two paid 10-minute rest breaks, during a typical 8-hour shift. The rest period is based on the total hours worked daily and must be at the minimum rate of a net ten consecutive minutes for each four hour work period. If you have worked for at least 3.5 hours, you are entitled to a 10-minute rest break. Under California break laws, an employee can work up to four hours without a rest break and five hours without a meal break. The normal meal break on Travis AFB will be a 30 minute unpaid lunch.
