Missouri child labor laws When school is not in session, they may work until 9 p.m., and a maximum of 40 hours and 6 days a week. Minors 16 and 17 years of age do not have any restrictions.

16-17 year olds may now work a maximum of 28 hours per week during school and only between the hours of 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. when school is open for instruction. In order to work past 10 p.m. on nights before a school day, both school and parental consent will be required.

16-year-old children cannot work more than 10 hours consecutive or more than 10 hours in a 24 hours period. 7 p.m. (9 p.m. before non-school day) to 6 a.m. 8-48 school day-week: 4-48 d except 8 before non-school day.

Breaks: While there is no specific state law requiring breaks for minors, federal law (FLSA) requires that if an employee works more than 5 consecutive hours, they must be given a break of at least 30 minutes. So, if a 16-year-old is working 8 consecutive hours, they must be provided with at least a 30-minute break.

There is no days per week restriction. 16 and 17-year-old minors enrolled in school may not work for more than nine hours in any one day, 40 hours in a school week, 48 hours in a non-school week, and six days in any one week.

34-23-203 Permitted occupations for minors 16 or older. Minors 16 years of age or older may work: (1) in all occupations not declared hazardous; and (2) in occupations which involve the use of motor vehicles if the minor is licensed to operate the motor vehicle for employment purposes under state law.

Utah is an employment-at-will state, which means that without a written employee contract, employees can be terminated for any reason at any time, provided that the reason is not discriminatory and that the employer is not retaliating against the employee for a rightful action.
