Interrogatories are done in a particular format and each party can serve another party with up to 50 interrogatories. Rule 5.04 clarifies the limited circumstances where documents tendered to the court administrator for filing can be rejected. Interrogatories may, without leave of court, be served upon any party after service of the summons and complaint. The attorney will sometimes do this to avoid having the plaintiff's service costs tacked onto any judgment in the case.
