Download and complete an Application for Homestead Tax Deferral (Form DR-570). When to file: Application for all exemptions must be made between January 1 and March 1 of the tax year. To apply for the standard homestead exemption in Florida, visit the property appraiser's website for the county where your property is located. The filing deadline is March 1, of tax year. You must file the Transfer of Homestead Assessment Difference Form DR-501T with the homestead application Form DR-501 for your new home.
