To qualify for a homestead, you must: Own a property, Occupy the property as your sole or primary residence, Be a Minnesota resident. Download and print the Owner-Occupied and Relative Homestead Application form.If you do NOT have access to a printer or scanner, please contact our office. The homestead application cannot be submitted electronically, it must be mailed. The application can be filled out from your computer and printed for mailing. You are required to provide your social security number as part of the homestead application process. You must be a relative or an in-law of the owner (son, daughter, parent, grandchild, grandparent, brother, sister, aunt, uncle, niece or nephew). You must be a Minnesota resident. State law requires the Social Security numbers and signatures of occupants and spouses on the homestead application. You must be an owner or a qualifying relative of the owner of the property.
