Applications must be filed with the County Auditor after the first Monday in January and on or before the first Monday in June. Applications are available online or by calling the Homestead Hotline at 937-225-4341. 451 W. Third St.

The Senior Tax Credit is available to homeowners at least 65 for whom the property is their principal residence (see the HOTC page for details); Interested homeowners must submit the Homeowners Tax Credit Application to the Maryland State Department of Assessments and Taxation (SDAT).

You and your spouse may claim an additional $1,000 exemption on the Maryland return for being 65 years of age or older or blind. If any other dependent claimed is 65 or over, you also receive an extra exemption of up to $3,200.

Homestead exemption 2 is for persons over age 65 whose adjusted gross income is less than $12,000 on the most recent state tax return. The amount of the exemption is $5,000 in assessed value against state taxes and county taxes. Individuals who are permanently blind are also entitled to this exemption.

State Property Tax Exemption- Disabled Veterans and Surviving Spouses. Armed Services veterans with a permanent and total service connected disability rated 100% by the Veterans Administration may receive an exemption from real property taxes on the dwelling house and surrounding yard.

New for tax year 2022. Residents who are at least 65 on the last day of the tax year may be eligible for a nonrefundable tax credit of up to $1,000. To claim this credit, complete Part M of Form 502CR and follow the instructions for reporting your total credits on Form 502.

Affidavit for Homestead Exemption (provided by the Revenue Commission; must be notarized if signed out of office)
