Homeowners applying for this exemption must: Own and occupy their Lake County home as their permanent residence as of January 1. Submit an application no later than March 1 of the year you wish the exemption to begin.

Owner-occupied homes, as well as up to one (1) acre of land immediately surrounding the residential improvement, are eligible for the homestead deduction.
