The intention of this letter is to provide consent for a minor child to travel without the company of both legal parents. Your child will need a Child Travel Consent any time they're traveling without all their parents or legal guardians present. If the child is traveling with only one of their custodial parents, they must have a letter of consent, preferably in English and notarized. I've travelled out of the country on multiple occasions with my children, without their other parent, and have never once been questioned. If children are not travelling with both their parents, (ie: if they are travelling alone, or with another adult), this form can be used to give permission. It's required when a child is traveling alone, with just one parent, or with someone who isn't their guardian, whether domestically or internationally.
