Prior to writing claim answer these questions: • What is the invention? • What are the pieces and parts that make up the invention? The typical method of filing a patent application is using the USPTO's Patent Center Website. Navigate to the Patent Center portal and create a USPTO account. The specification, including the abstract and claims, must have lines that are 1.5 or doublespaced in a single column of text. A provisional patent template is an outline to complete your provisional patent application correctly and will help you when starting the patent process. Come up with a strong title for the invention. Make sure the number of drawings in the drawing file match the number of drawings listed in the specification (under the Descriptions of the Drawings heading). Patents have a limited lifespan. For utility patents, this is usually 20 years from the filing date, while design patents last 15 years.
