Owners are required to annually register their residential rental units' rent and tenancy information. Fill out the Request for Tenancy Approval (RTA) form with the owner once he or she has decided to rent to you.Currently, HUD is giving your housing provider or landlord 28 days notice before an inspection. You may refuse an inspection of your unit. Under current law, simply inspecting for no reason or because you want to conduct an annual inspection is not a permissible reason for entry. Most real estates won't allow you to apply for a rental without inspection first. When a minor property violation is first reported, we send a Courtesy Notice. No inspection is done at this stage.
