DCP now offers a Roth or pretax option. Each option affects when your retirement contributions will be taxed.Roth deferrals are taxed as income on the program participants' Form W-2 for the calendar year it was deferred. However, a participant's annual deferrals during the taxable year under a ' 457(b) plan are reported on Form W-2, Wage and Tax. A 457(b) plan is a tax-deferred retirement savings plan. Funds are withdrawn from an employee's income without being taxed and are only taxed upon withdrawal. DCP gives you 90 days from the first contribution to request a refund, but contributions can be stopped at any time. This is a voluntary retirement plan offered to City of Tacoma employees created to allow you to put aside money from each paycheck towards retirement.
