FAQ

The 1099-G is an IRS form that shows the total unemployment benefits you received and any taxes withheld during the previous calendar year. You will need this information when you file your tax return. The Department of Unemployment Assistance (DUA) will mail you a copy of your 1099-G by Jan.

Your unemployment benefits are taxable. If you want taxes withheld from your weekly benefit payments, you must tell us this when you file your claim. To do this, you may: Fill out the tax withholding section of UI Online.

Our main Call Center can be reached at (877) 626-6800 from a.m. to p.m., Monday through Friday.

To qualify for unemployment benefits, you must: Earn at least $6,300 (rounded to the nearest hundred dollars) during the last four completed calendar quarters. Earn at least 30 times the weekly benefit amount you're eligible to collect. You must have authorization to work in the United States.

You have the right to appeal an overpayment determination. You must submit your appeal in writing within 30 days of the mailing date on the Notice of Overpayment (DE 1444). You can still submit an appeal after the 30-day deadline, but you must provide the reasons why you missed the appeal deadline.

Online: Log in to UI Online to apply for UI, appeal a denial, request weekly benefits, and more. Phone: 877-626-6800.
