All students who are admitted to a public College or University in Florida must complete an affidavit and provide proof of residency for tuition purposes. To qualify as a Florida "resident for tuition purposes" a student must be a U.S. citizen, permanent resident alien, or a legal alien granted indefinite stay.A person may only be registered to vote in the county where the person has his or her "legal residence. A Florida resident for tuition purposes is defined as a person who has established and maintained legal residency in Florida.
